The Steps software programme covers all levels from the very beginnings of literacy up to and including university level. It can be used by all ages from 5 to adult. It is currently being used by:
Over 700 NZ schools
Many schools internationally, including some of the top specialist dyslexia schools in the UK
Dyslexia/Specific Learning Disability tutors
Adult literacy and English language learners
Parents and home-schoolers
Adult users wanting to improve their own literacy
Steps contains structured courses, which incorporate automatic revision. These can be used independently, or in conjunction with our workbook courses, First Steps and Steps to Literacy. The Spelling Test function assesses literacy level and shows you which level to start on. Workbooks can be purchased separately.
There are also extensive spelling/vocabulary lists covering topics, word families, high frequency lists, spelling patterns or rules and grammar rules. These can be ‘dipped into’ as necessary.
You can also add your own lists, so you can use Steps to reinforce any other materials, practice school spelling lists or focus on individual difficulties.
Steps is intuitive and easy to use. Learners just need to do each computer activity in order. There are thousands of printable support materials, including worksheets, flashcards, reading comprehension materials, handwriting worksheets and printable games.
Every aspect of Steps is research-based – even the games! Information about Steps and the research links are on the website under ‘Why Steps’. Extensive support materials are provided on the website, including teaching videos and printable extra materials/certificates.
Steps Home is a digital download. No disk is supplied. A disk can be purchased for an additional $20 including postage/packaging.
The Home Edition of Steps caters for up to 5 learners. See a range of testimonials here.
