Professional Development Options

Ros Lugg is a UK and NZ trained educational specialist, whose main focus is remedial literacy teaching and learning difficulties / disabilities. She is an experienced teacher and qualified dyslexia tutor and assessor with extensive experience in NZ and UK schools. She holds the Oxford and Cambridge Diploma in Specific Learning Disabilities, which is a masters level qualification in specialist teaching and assessment.

As well as the Steps training, (Stage 1, Stage 2 and refresher), The Learning Staircase is also able to provide training on Lucid Assessment Software and Understanding Dyslexia and Ros is able to hold evening "information sessions" which are particularly useful for teaching assistants, parents and care givers.

It is also possible to fully customise training specifically to a school's requirements.

This is a popular option for schools / clusters who have a number of staff requiring training and want to offer the training to others outside their school or cluster for a fee. In most cases, schools or clusters who have done it this way have more than covered the cost of paying for the training in the first place!

This is a popular option for schools / clusters who have recently started using Steps or are looking for a few members of staff to have a refresher course.

The Learning Staircase has a schedule of training that is organised in-house, so if you know that there is interest in your area, but know that your school is unable to offer hosting, please do let us know as we may be able to organise a venue and incorporate it in our own schedule of training around New Zealand.
